Family Toolkit

These tools will support engaging families in diverse roles in Special Olympics. We encourage you to share them widely with both families and Program staff and be sure to “like” our Facebook page.

The toolkit will continue to be expanded throughout 2013 with the generous funding of Kim Samuel and the Samuel Family Foundation, so check back periodically for new materials.

Activation Tools

These tools can help activate family engagement in four areas: healthy homes, volunteering, community building and Young Athletes leadership. NOTE: Please double click to open a file, right-click to save the file.

Community Builders Toolkit For Family Leaders

The Community Builders Toolkit for Family Leaders provides Power Point presentations, sample materials, templates and guidance for family leaders (both staff and volunteers) to use. The toolkit highlights effective strategies for recruiting, retaining and engaging families to make Special Olympics better for athletes, families and communities. It also highlights core resources accessible in the online Family Support Network e-Library and the interactive components of the site designed to offer additional engagement opportunities across Regions and Programs.

Leadership

These tools provide families with examples of leadership activities, opportunities to join a global network and link within and across Regions.

Contacts

Each Region has a trained Global Family Leader who can help answer questions about Family and Young Athletes Programming. See the website and Facebook page to learn more about them and what they are doing.
