Spread the Word Spring Extravaganza

Erie , PennsylvaniaUNITED STATES

The Gannon University Occupational Therapy Program and Honor Society, Pi Theta Epsilon, will be hosting the 2nd Annual Spread the Word to End the Word inclusion dance “Spring Extravaganza.” The event will include dancing, karaoke, live performances, crafts, games, snacks, and so much more fun for all. This event is our effort, as future occupational therapists to advocate for individuals with disabilities and their families by raising awareness for the Spread the Word to End the Word initiative. This event will also be a celebration of “respect” (the new R-word) and inclusion for all people, including those with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The event will be put on by students and faculty from the Gannon University Occupational Program. We would like to extend the invitation to persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities who are ages 13-22 in addition to a guest or two of their choice. If any person requires care from an additional guest, we understand and are happy to accommodate your needs. The event will also be a fundraiser for the Special Olympics of Erie City and Erie County. We are so excited to continue this new tradition at our school in efforts to raise awareness of eliminating the r-word and promoting respect for all in our community of Erie, PA.
