The record industry has generously made beautiful music for Special Olympics athletes since 1987. “A Very Special Christmas®” album series have become a major financial source for the movement. Below are resources that make up the AVSC toolkit.

The holiday season is upon us, and once again we are excited to promote the A Very Special Christmas® album series to raise much needed funds and awareness for Special Olympics athletes and programs!  Thanks to the generosity of more than 100 top internationally acclaimed recording artists, the A Very Special Christmas® series has generated over $100 million in direct support for Special Olympics programs around the world since its founding in 1987, and continues to be a gift that gives back to the movement.

This holiday, Special Olympics invites you to give the gift of music that truly gives back! The acclaimed A Very Special Christmas® album series has literally changed lives for people with intellectual disabilities around the world. ... Artists donate their time and talent, producers and labels waive their fees, and 100% of the net proceeds from sales of the albums and DVDs comes directly back to Special Olympics.

Rise Up Revolutionaries!

And today, I watched this video by Stu Chaifetz about teachers and adults who bullied Akian, a ten year old with autism in Cherry Hill New Jersey.  It is a tale of fear and rage, as heartbreaking as it is infuriating.  It is a call to all of us to rise up again, to demand change in Cherry Hill, to ask for an accounting from those who were abusive.   Our own young leaders in Special Olympics Project Unify will understand the horrors of this video perhaps better than anyone.  In a special way, I ask their leadership now.read more »
